Walter O'Malley shakes hands and congratulates Bud L. Holman during
dedication ceremonies for Holman Stadium at Dodgertown on March 11, 1953. The ceremonies and first game drew an overflow crowd of 5,532 as the Dodgers defeated the Philadelphia Athletics, 4-2. Pitcher Carl Erskine started for the Dodgers. The plaque behind them presented by O'Malley reads: "The Brooklyn Dodgers dedicate Holman Stadium To Honor Bud L. Holman of the friendly City of Vero Beach."
