At the 1956 Long Island Dodger Boosters Dinner in the Garden City Hotel, Walter O’Malley’s keynote address focuses on the need for a new stadium in Brooklyn. “We need the new stadium to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn and we need your support to get it.” Dodger MVP catcher Roy Campanella told the audience how he prayed the Dodgers would win the seventh game of the 1955 World Series. “I never prayed before like I did those last three innings in that seventh game. If anybody could ever play pitch and catch, I did.”1



February 6, 1959
At a testimonial dinner by the Masquers Club of Hollywood honoring Casey Stengel, Walter O’Malley is one of the featured speakers, poking fun at the popular former Dodger player and manager. Actor Pat Buttram served as dinner emcee.



February 6, 1960
Walter O’Malley receives the “Sportsman of the Year” award in “recognition of his outstanding contribution toward making Southern California the sports mecca of the world” in a presentation by the Palm Springs Mounted Police.
