The Dodgers obtain in escrow title to three properties in the Chavez Ravine area, while working on purchasing nine other properties. Walter O’Malley paid $494,000 for the last remaining 12 properties, after the City of Los Angeles was unable to obtain this land from owners who had banded together to sell properties at considerably higher amounts than the independent appraisals.
