Kay and Walter O’Malley arrive at Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo, Ireland as part of their vacation to Europe. They will also travel to Copenhagen and Rome.

Jack Yount, the contractor who built Dodger Stadium, remembers the difficulty they had in deciding the color that would be painted on the outfield walls. “The day before it opened, we still had 500 men working on the site. That was the day Walter O’Malley decided to have an opening ceremony. I protested. ‘How do you expect me to get the thing finished with a bunch of politicians getting in our way?’ Well, we worked overtime. At 7 o’clock we were still arguing about what color to paint the outfield wall. We’d paint a strip and the designer didn’t like the color or Walter didn’t like the shade. Finally I said, ‘Look gentlemen, it’s getting dark. Let’s paint the damn thing something!”1
