In his Wood, Field and Stream column in The New York Times, Raymond R. Camp writes about the Freeport Tuna Club holding a “free-for-all” tuna tournament in August off Ambrose Lightship. “Each club will be limited to a four-boat, eight-man team, two men to a boat but with only one man fishing at a time...Clubs accepting this challenge should communicate with Walter F. O’Malley, chairman of the tournament committee, at 60 East Forty-second Street, New York.”

Walter O’Malley writes a letter of apology to a Brooklyn Dodger fan who attended a game against the Giants and was seated behind a post. He and his daughter’s most vivid impression that day were the words “Section 11” which were painted on the post. O’Malley says, “They say everything happens in Brooklyn and of course, only a good Dodger fan would be boxed in behind a post. For this I am genuinely sorry and apologize.” O’Malley then offered the fan free tickets for an upcoming game “located in our best section and far out of range of those annoying columns.”
