This Day in Walter O’Malley History:

  • The Board of Directors, including Vice President and General Counsel Walter O’Malley, of the Brooklyn Dodgers execute an agreement to purchase the franchise rights, players and equipment for Brooklyn in the All-America Football Conference, with home games to be played at Ebbets Field. O’Malley also submitted a frequency modulation application for radio coverage of the football games.

  • To Mr. and Mrs. Gene Autry, Walter O’Malley writes a thank you letter for a gift. “Your thoughtfulness at Christmas was much appreciated. For a man on a diet I must admit that you tempted me successfully. Many, many thanks and all our best.” “The Singing Cowboy” Autry was co-Chairman of the Board of the Los Angeles Angels, who were tenants at Dodger Stadium for four years (1962-65).
