Announcements from the Akihiro “Ike” Ikuhara and Peter O’Malley Memorial Sports Management Class lecture series at Waseda University, 2003-2009

2006

Peter O’Malley sponsored and developed the Akihiro “Ike” Ikuhara and Peter O’Malley Memorial Sports Management Class at prestigious Waseda University, Tokyo in 2003. After playing baseball and graduating from Waseda, Ikuhara joined the Dodger front office in 1965, but never had the opportunity to learn about the business side of sports prior to his on-the-job training. O’Malley honored his longtime assistant with the class and also wanted to offer a sports management education to students at Waseda. Ikuhara was a superb representative for the Dodgers and he and O’Malley worked closely together to build baseball relationships internationally. O’Malley invited luminaries from the worlds of baseball, business and politics to speak at Waseda. These announcements in English and Japanese show the internationally-renowned speakers for 12 lectures, including O’Malley, U.S. Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Japan Baseball Hall of Fame player Sadaharu Oh and Japan sports business leaders.
