Bronze Eagle Statue, gift from Yomiuri Owner Toru Shoriki to Peter O’Malley

1988

The large, bronze Eagle statue was sent as a gift to Dodger President Peter O’Malley from his longtime friend Toru Shoriki, owner of the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants in 1988. The eagle is more than 7-feet high, with a wingspan of more than 6-feet and weighs 466 pounds. Renowned Japanese sculptor Isao Tabata started creating the special piece in 1987. The theme of the statue is “Up, Up and Away” to commemorative the soaring relationship between the Shoriki and O’Malley families for more than 30 years.
