Unique color footage of the 1956 Dodgers Goodwill Tour to Japan, taken by Terry O’Malley

1956

The complete spectrum of the Brooklyn Dodgers’ 1956 Goodwill Tour to Japan is seen through the 8 millimeter camera by Terry O’Malley, daughter of Kay and Walter O’Malley. From their departure from Idlewild Airport in New York to Hawaii, Wake Island, and finally in Japan, this rare color footage is remarkable in the images it captures. Hall of Fame players as Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, and Pee Wee Reese are shown on the field and off the field as the Dodger personnel traveled through Japan on several excursions.
