A HALL OF FAME CAREER
Walter O’Malley, who is widely regarded as a pioneer in baseball for the westward expansion of the game, was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee on December 3, 2007. Hall of Fame induction ceremonies will be held on July 27, 2008 in Cooperstown, New York. O’Malley moved the Brooklyn Dodgers to Los Angeles prior to the 1958 season and designed, built, privately financed and maintained Dodger Stadium, which opened on April 10, 1962. During his ownership, the Dodgers won four World Series Championships and 11 National League Pennants.
