Finder’s Keepers

There it was right in front of little Ralph Haffley. The nine-year-old reached down and picked up a dime in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. The honest youngster from Richmond, MN, who had been in Los Angeles visiting his older brother Nick, wrote a kind letter to Dodger President Walter O’Malley suggesting that the dime was being returned because he felt it belonged to the Dodgers.

O’Malley quickly responded to Ralph with the following note: “Dear Ralph: Finders keepers. It’s your dime. Walter O’Malley.” The dime was attached to the note. For good measure, O’Malley also sent along a team photograph autographed by the entire Dodger ballclub!
